Adding a new element of relaxation…

First, apologies, Due to house moves and training courses I have not posted for quite some time. As we settle in to the new year, I hope to be more consistent in my posts.

I have always found that when you are ready, an animal will find its way in to your life. The ones that find you in some way are the best fit for your life, even in ways you didn’t know you needed. After over a year with no 4 legged companions, we decided just before Christmas that we are settled and ready enough for someone new. Within 24 hours of this decision we had been reached out to and arranged to meet Roo, a lovely young Beagador who needed a home quickly. We were supposed to take her for a 2 week trial and decided within a few days, she was meant to be with us, she took to us instantly and fit right in to our lives.

On researching the breed I found that Beagadors (Beagle/ Labrador cross) tend to make excellent therapy dogs due to their sweet nature, and this sparked an idea…

We all know that being around animals is proven to lower blood pressure and reduce stress levels, animals are intuitive and amazing for emotional support, this ties in so well to what I do.

I first imagined having a treatment room dog when teaching in Manchester UK, I had a reflexology student with a guide dog at her side, everyone who came in for treatment with this student commented on how much more relaxed they felt as a result of the presence of this lovely dog.

While getting to know Roo and learning about her breed, I realised that I may have a chance to increase to relaxing environment of the room with her presence. We have tested this with a few treatments and she has shown a lot of potential for the job. She has some training to do before she officially starts working with me but it wont take long before she is a regular sight in The Healing Room.

Not a fan of the idea? Don’t worry! I am aware that while many folks will be happy with this and will feel the enhancement of their treatments, I am very aware that not everyone is comfortable with dogs and of course some folks have allergies. I will be including clear options on my consultation form to give folks a chance to say if they would prefer Roo not be present for their treatment for any reason, and for those with allergies I will ensure that she is not on the premises for at least 24 hours before treatment and that a deeper than usual clean will be carried out in preparation.

Ill post again soon as she progresses through her training for work.

For the next few weeks as she gets settled in, I am working around dog care schedules so while I’m getting all that figured out I have taken my online booking system offline. All appointments are available as normal, Just text or call 0852618853 and Ill get you booked in.
