This local story on the Wexford press caught our attention this week and we felt it was important to share..

“The father of a 20-year-old man who was viciously assaulted on Wexford’s North Main Street over the Bank Holiday weekend has revealed how his son’s face was left “unrecognisable” as a result of the injuries he sustained.”

There is no guarantee that self-defence training will protect you from an aggressive situation but learning to manage and cope with fear and panic will give you the best possible chance of walking away safely.

While many classes will teach you tricks and skills which can be useful in self defence, these techniques will not be instinctive after a few sessions. We need to develop and continually work on our breathing, balance, responses and reactions so that they are there to call on when we need them the most.

Stories like this are a reminder that while we may be lucky and never need the skills covered in a self defence class, it is important to have them in reserve, just in case. The skills learned with us are also very beneficial in reducing stress levels and dealing with conflict in daily life.

Our classes in Bannow will teach you how to keep calm in a stressful situation, develop better self-confidence and improve your spatial awareness. We do this by learning how to breathe, relax and move more efficiently. Oh yes, and also have some fun on the way!
