Have you booked your appointment yet?..

You feel like you are overworked and falling apart, your shoulders are tight, your head is pounding, you are getting little sleep…finally you get round to booking in for that long awaited massage. You feel more relaxed as soon as you lie down, your therapist works hard and unwinds your tension and tight muscles, as you lie there you think to yourself, I feel so much better, I should really do this more often, I’ll see how I feel and book back in about a (….everyone has their own pattern or rhythm so insert the time scale that sounds right to you…)

Some time later…you are back to square one because you never did get around to booking that appointment when you felt the tension creeping back in. Now you are feeling wound up, work is piling up and you just don’t have time for you.

Pictures just like this …..

You may even only have got as far as seeing posts put up on social media…you know, those lovely pictures and videos of some lucky person looking all relaxed because they are having a treatment that you know you really need too…You think, “oh that looks so nice…I wish that was me”…..

Holistic therapies are all about prevention, aiming to keep your stress levels down and your systems flowing well. We can of course help to unwind you when you are feeling broken and run down, and will always be there to do this for you, but it will be a longer journey for you to get everything back in to balance the longer you leave it.

..or this…

Taking the step to book your appointment may feel frivolous or indulgent, but it really isn’t. Take a moment to shift your perspective, If someone you cared about was working as hard as you do, without taking time for themselves, what would you say to them? The more we do to reduce our stress levels, reduce tension, keep ourselves feeling balanced and well, the better we will feel in day to day life. The effects will touch every part of your life, if we feel more relaxed and balanced our interactions with others will also be more relaxed and less likely to be reactive.

…or this…

Of course there are many ways to gain the benefits of the reduced tension and better balance that I mentioned here, holistic therapies are one way, but simple things like going for a walk, breath exercises, meditation and many other things all are valuable. The more things you can do frequently for yourself the better you will feel.

So my message here is don’t look at those posts and wish it was you, get yourself booked in for your treatment, it is worth it. I’d even go one step further and consider booking a standard appointment, over the years that I worked in Manchester there were many people who went through this cycle several times, getting annoyed with themselves because they knew they felt better with a regular massage but they would forget to book in, then need more treatments because they were tied in so many knots. Eventually they realised that booking a regular appointment takes so much stress away, it was in their diary, it could be moved in cases of holiday or illness but it was there to look forward to and to keep them balanced.

Each person has their own balance and needs, you may want to book in for an hour every week, or 3 hours every 2 months…or anything in between. You may want to vary what treatment you book in for. Its your treatment, its important to find what works best for you, and get it in your diary! Click the button here and get yours in now.

I have been a practicing holistic therapist since 2001 and a tutor since 2012, I love bringing people balance and helping them move better and with less pain. I love supporting and encouraging new therapists to discover their own passion for treatments.
